Jane Austen Fashions - Elizabeth Bennet of Pride and Prejudice

< Back to Fashions Index

Elizabeth Bennet Dress from Pride and Prejudice

Lizzie Bennet wears a beautifully ornate floor-length evening gown for a night at a local community dance. The gown is empire waisted and of a gold coloring made more eloquent by its satin texture. Details abound along the long cap sleeves and continue to either side of the neckline. The neckline itself is somewhat liberal but Lizzie is at the age where being noticed is acceptable.

The silhouette maintains a conservative approach and continues the satin fabric all the way to the shoes.

Full-length gloves are just one way to add a bit more detail to the ensemble, running up just past the elbows. Like the elder Bennet sister before her, Lizzie wears a standard cross pendant suspended from a thin chain necklace.

The hair is done up, parted in the center and curled out at the sides and back.
